Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO)
A body set up by some local authorities to take over the day-to-day running of their properties and bring social housing up to a decent standard, separating the landlord role from their wider strategic function in order to improve the quality and management of their housing. The properties will still be owned by the Council, unlike a Stock Transfer where legal ownership passes to a new body.
