Welcome to the Affordable Housing Guide which has been developed and sponsored by Local Government Yorkshire and Humber. The guide has been designed to offer practical support and guidance in delivering affordable housing through the development control process.

The guide is aimed at those new to affordable housing, as well as experienced officers; and it is also designed to let users 'dip in and out' of sections to seek clarification and advice about various elements within the overall process. The guide should be used as a tool kit, it is not a definitive way to delivery affordable housing but instead suggests different approaches you may find helpful.

For anyone who has not worked in affordable housing before, the task may appear daunting. Build your expertise one step at a time, do not be afraid to ask colleagues and use the regional contacts section freely.

The web site includes guidance around a series of questions offering best practice examples and templates to support you and a comprehensive glossary of terms. Very useful for the new user!
